Food and Our skin

Aging is inevitable, but there may be a way to keep your youth for a little while. Some foods have anti aging properties in them, food like fountain of youths. They help slow down the aging of our bodies.

The first is a avocado, a good source of monounsaturated fat. This fat helps to reduce your bad cholesterol, that blocks arteries. It is also a great source in vitamin E. This vitamin is a antioxidant, which promotes healthy skin. It keeps your skin moist and soft. Use the avocados any way you like. Eat them sliced, or in a salad or my favorite guacamole.

Berries such as blueberries and blackberries give you flavonoids, with
powerful antioxidants. They help protect you against free radicals, which cause damage to living cells. Berries also give you vitamin C, which boost your immune system. And of course are a very healthy snack.

If you like broccoli and cauliflower, and even cabbage you are fighting toxins and cancer every time you eat them. Raw or cooked they are good to consume. Raw is the better way to go with them if you can.
Source Naturals Broccoli Sprouts, 60 Tablets (Pack of 2)
Most people do like nuts, they are rich in vitamins, minerals and other antioxidants. These little fellows help lower your cholesterol and help to enhance your digestive system, preventing cancer.

Mooney Farms Sun Dried Tomatoes Review

There are many recipes that I use sun dried tomatoes in, salads and pasta are the main ones. So you can image how happy I was when I received several products from Mooney farms today.

The company started their business in 1987. Their number one sun dried tomato product was the family's Bella sun Luci in olive oil and herbs. The company is rich in Mediterranean history with olive trees that are 200 years old.
The one I used in my pasta tonite for dinner was the sun dried with Italian herbs. I used zitti pasta, with black olives, the sun dried tomatoes and topped with grated parm cheese. They dish was gone in sixty seconds.

I received several other types of sun dried tomatoes that I plan to use over the course of the weekend. I am sure they also will make any dish taste fantastic.

These wonderful sun dried tomatoes that come in a variety of flavors can be used in such a wide variety of recipes.

Also they are kosher, and have been inspected and certified.

These wonderful tomatoes also help combat various disease's. So they are very beneficial to your health and diet.

If you cook with sun dried tomatoes you just have to visit Mooney Farms. Please visit their website at www.mooneyfarms.com .

Lotus Bakeries Review

Today I received two products from Lotus Bakeries, one was a Biscoff Spread and the other we're cookies. The Bakery began in Belgium, in 1932. The Boone family started making these products by baking decorative caramelized biscuits, and taking them door to door in their red truck. Now they have been in business for 78 years, honored by tradition of craftsmanship and personal service.

The first product the family tested was the Biscoff Spread. We tryed it on a warm toasted bagel. I will tell you this, one taste of this will leave you hooked, and wanting more. It's a sweet creamy spread that is made with Biscoff cookies. You can use it any where you would peanut butter. I think this product would also make a great dip for pretzels.

The next product for review the Belgian milk chocolate biscoff cookies. They we're so velvety rich and good. They tasted good just like the picture shows above, after dinner with a good cup of coffee.

If you would like to know more about these products please visit the website at www.biscoff.com. There are other products, and all would make great gifts.

Husbands Rib Secret

My husband is letting me share his BBQ ribs recipe secret. So let's get started before he changes his mind.

The first step in the best ribs I have ever tasted is he soaks some hickory wood chips for one hour. After that the chips go under the grill grate. This turns your grill into a smoker for the best ribs. Next it is time to turn on the grill and get it really hot. Keeping your lid closed to help get it really toasty inside. Rub your ribs with some BBQ seasoning. His rub recipe he won't give up at this time, so use your favorite. Just make sure to rub the seasoning mix into your ribs. Then place them on the bottom burner of the hot grill. Sear them quickly, for a char taste. Continue cooking with the lid closed for five minutes on each side. When the meaty side up is facing you, baste with your BBQ sauce. Sorry lady's and gentlemen he's not giving up that recipe yet either. Then inside heat your oven to 275 degrees. Take the ribs and place in a large baking dish or cookie sheet. Cover tightly with foil, and cook on this temp for four hours. Every 45 minutes pull out and baste with your BBQ sauce. They will be juicy and so tender. You and your guests will be amazed.

Soda Cake Recipes

Most of the time, when baking a cake, you add water maybe milk. Did you ever think to add soda? Well I want to share with you some ideas on cakes that you can incorporate soda into the recipe. The soda can be added to your cake mix, or even incorporated into your frosting. It can be added to gelatin and poured into poked holes of your cake as well. Sometimes the only ingredients for your cake may be the mix and the soda. So let's get started.

The first is called a ice cream float cake. All you need is your favorite white cake mixture and your soda choice. Coke or orange, or even root beer work well for this. In three round cake pans pour your batter in thin layers. After your cake is cooked it is time to put it together. Between each layer spread vanilla ice cream. Then frost your cake with marshmallow frosting. Decorate with some candy that has flavor, such as root beer barrel candy.

Next is a soda cake with a soda frosting. This is a pineapple cake made with pineapple soda. While you bake your cake make your frosting. Cook a cup of pineapple soda and reduce to a syrup consistency. Let the soda cool and then add some confection sugar until you get a frosting consistency, then add a tsp of vanilla and a tsp of yellow food coloring to your sugar mixture. In another bowl whip one package of cream cheese with a stick of butter, incorporate this into your sugar mixture and then frost away. You can top your cake with some toasted coconut and some maraschino cherries.

You can make your own gourmet cakes by matching your cake flavor with your soda flavor.

Have fun with your cake and be creative.

Espadrilles Wedge's

I love my espadrilles wedge shoes, but cleaning them is a different issue. So I wanted to share some tips with you on how I have learned to clean mine. These tips will help maintain the look of your wedge's.

The first thing you want to do, is to brush any dirt from the wedge, using a soft bristle brush. Always be careful when doing this, try to avoid scraping the details of the rope, you don't want them to fray.

Always use a damp cloth to wipe stains that you may have, and do this very gently. For the heel, dab this with your cloth to remove the dirt, do not use a brush on this area.

For tough stains, you can use a cleaning spray. You allow this to dry before you wear your wedge. When dry all you do is once again brush off with a soft bristle brush.

Fun with Pancakes

I love to make breakfast fun for my nine year old in the morning, it's a great way to get her up and off to a good start. We love to create shapes in our pancakes, it makes her laugh and enjoy breakfast even more. This also works great for fussy eaters. The easiest way to make the shapes is using cookie cutters. We do stars, squares, and even animal shapes.

Have fun with your child with breakfast, and try this tip.

DIY Hair Accessories

My youngest daughter loves head bands, or any other item to place in her hair. But these little things can be over priced. I like to create my own, and artificial flowers allow me to do just that. You can make your own from exotic to just colorful.

You can use large flowers or small the choice is yours. To start just turn your flower over, cut the stem off, and create a flat bottom. Get a plain barrette or plain hair clip. Open up the barrette, attach your flower with hot glue. You can use a single flower or multi flowers what ever you like. Just make sure before you use it the glue has totally dried. This can be done with plain head bands as well.

Warm Dinner Salad Idea's

Salads don't always have to be served cold, there are some great warm salads that make wonderful dinner meals. They can range from a warm pasta salad to a warm potato salad.

I wanted to share a few that I make during the summer months for my family.

Chicken cashew salad is a favorite in my home. It's very simple and very elegant to make. To start heat 2tsp of olive oil in a skillet. Then with one pound of chicken breast cut up into pieces saute in your skillet. Add two finely chopped celery stalks along with a cup of finely chopped onion for eight minutes. When your chicken is no longer pink inside, it is time to make the dressing. Mix 1/4 cup of olive oil with 1tsp dried tarragon and pour over your chicken. I then serve this warm mixture over shredded cabbage, and top with chopped cashews.

My husbands favorite is warm salad with wild mushrooms. To make you whisk 3tbsp of olive oil with 1tbsp of white wine vinegar, salt and pepper to taste. Then in your skillet heat up 1tbsp of olive oil and and when warm add, a combination of your favorite mushrooms. At least one pound of them sliced nicely. Cook your mushrooms over med heat, just until the liquid is cooked off, and slightly brown. When this is done, you remove them and add them to your vinaigrette and stir to coat all the mushrooms. I then serve the mixture on top of toasted bread with a little arugula sprinkled on top along with some shaved parm cheese.

A dutch oven salad made easy. In your dutch oven you want to heat up 2tbsp of olive oil and than add two sliced pears to it. You will cook your pears stirring them until browned. Then take your pears and transfer them to a bowl. After that you will whisk two small sliced shallots into 6 tbsp of sherry vinegar along with 4tsp's of Dijon mustard. Then add your shallot mixture into your dutch oven, and stir for 20 seconds. You then add 3 cups of cooked chicken, a thin sliced head of radicchio, one large fennel bulb and two cut up carrots cut matchstick style. Along with 2tbsp of chopped toasted walnuts. Stir and cook your veggies just till wilted, usually this takes about three minutes. Then with your pears, place them back into the dutch oven, season with salt and pepper to taste. With some Boston lettuce leaves, place them on four plates and top them with the warm mixture. To top it off grate some Gorgonzola cheese on top.

Thai Salad is another family favorite in my home. Easy to make, starting with the dressing. You take 1/2 cup of rice vinegar and 1/3 cup peanut oil, 2tbsp of lime juice, 1tbsp of white sugar, 1 1/2tsp of fresh minced ginger, 1 1/2tsp of hot pepper sauce, 1 1/2tsp of soy sauce, 1tsp salt and one minced garlic clove. Then add 1/2tsp of crushed pepper flakes and set aside. You then cook a package of spaghetti of your choice. When done drain and rinse the pasta off with cold water. Toss your pasta with half of your dressing mixture. Then open a bag of spring salad greens add one small thin slice of red pepper and four chopped green onions. To the greens sprinkle the rest of your dressing on them. Then serve this way, greens on the bottom, pasta on top, deli sliced roast beef cut in strips on the pasta, and finished with chopped salty peanuts.

The cute little cake shop Review

I received a sample box today of little cake pops from The company, The cute little cake shop. It's a mother and daughter team, that combined has over forty years experience. At first they made their cake balls and pops for friends and family, now they have their own home based business.

The flavor guide was red velvet with white chocolate and white chocolate drizzle. Carrot cake with white chocolate with sugar carrot, vanilla butter cream with white chocolate with white chocolate shavings. Creamsicle, has white chocolate with orange drizzle. Then there was classic chocolate with milk chocolate with chocolate sprinkles. The toffee bar had milk chocolate with crushed toffee. Next was peanut butter cup classic with milk chocolate with dark chocolate circular drizzle. And finally chocolate blackout with dark chocolate with dark chocolate shavings.

My family was in love with the first bite. These little cake balls packed a powerful flavor. The chocolate used was so elegant. When you bite the cake ball and reach the cake, it is so moist, and so full of rich flavor. My favorite was the creamsicle, it reminded me of the summer eating a creamsicle Popsicle. My husband feel in love with the carrot cake, he loved spice cake part of this cake ball.

These cake balls are not only delicious but so delicately decorated.

The mother daughter team has a gold mine with these wonderful products.

They certainly would make great gifts for any occasion.

Create nice smelling closet's

Sometime in everyone's home, you will get smells in the closet's that then transfer to your clothing. Adding a pleasant scent on your clothes is a great way to start the day in a good mood.

The first thing you will want to do is clean out that closet. If you have more air space you will have more circulation for your scents.

Dryer sheets work great for creating a nice fresh smell in your closet. Place them in some clothing pockets or even take a clothes hanger and poke them through the top. Dryer sheets can also keep some insects away.

Put your old pantyhose to work by cutting them in half, filling up the feet section with some potpourri, then tie a know at the top. You can also again use a hanger to hang the stocking sachet.

Don't have potpourri, then bits of a scented candle will work just fine. Save those candles when they are burnt to the bottom and use them to create a nice closet scent.

Have some essential oil, well dip it into your cotton balls, place on a shelf and you have another way to create a nice smell in your closet.
